Techniques We Use

When it comes to treating and preventing sports-related injuries with massage therapy, there’s no one-size-fits-all solution. That’s why we personalise our treatments and use a wide variety of techniques, including:

  • Soft tissue release: Applying gentle pressure to loosen and stretch muscles, tendons and ligaments.
  • Neuromuscular therapy: Targeting and releasing areas of muscle tension to reduce pain. Also known as trigger-point therapy.
  • Positional release: Pressuring tight muscles to relieve tension and help restore normal movement.
  • Fascial release: Releasing tight connective tissue to restore normal function.

What’s more, our sports massages can be used before or after exercising to help prevent injuries and increase range of motion. For more information or to book an appointment, reach out today. We also offer
remedial and relaxation massages.

Post-Surgery & Weight Loss Massages

Thanks to our post-surgery and weight loss massages, you don’t have to go it alone. Art of Massage & Healing is here to create a comfortable and supportive environment, helping you recover with the most advanced massage techniques.

Our massages are designed to improve circulation, allowing oxygenated blood and nutrient-rich fluids to pump into your tissues and vital organs. This helps boost your body’s healing process by providing better pain relief and more efficient movement. While also helping to tighten the skin for greater toning and elasticity.

But it’s not all about physical healing—our massages also provide relaxation for the mind. Our massage therapists know how to find those tight spots in your body and work them out, so you can leave feeling refreshed and stress-free.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How often do I require a sports massage?

This is a personal decision that depends on your individual needs and preferences. If you are experiencing pain or tightness in the affected area, a sports massage may be beneficial for relieving this. It can also help with injury prevention if you have particular areas of concern such as muscle groups which get tight easily. A regular sports massage every 2-4 weeks can help to keep your body in optimum health and performance.

  • What should I do before and after exercising?

Before exercising, it is important to warm up your body and get blood flowing. This can include a light walk or slow jog, dynamic stretching, jumping jacks or other low intensity exercises. Warming up helps to reduce the risk of muscle strains or injuries during workout.

After exercise, your body needs time to cool down and recover. This can include a light jog, walking or other low intensity exercises. It is also important to stretch your muscles after exercise to help reduce muscle soreness and tension. Make sure you get a good night’s sleep after exercising to let your body rest and recover.

  • What's the difference between sports massage and therapeutic massage?

Sports massages are designed to help athletes prepare their bodies for optimal performance, recover after a big event or function well during training. These types of massages generally focus on specific areas of the body that are overused and stressed from repetitive and often aggressive movements.

Therapeutic massages, on the other hand, are intended to treat chronic pain and tension in muscles. These massages typically focus on relaxation and soothing overworked areas, with deep pressure techniques used to reach tight muscle knots and help relieve tension.
